4 Fruits that Double as Dog Treats

While there are many different dog treats you can purchase from pet stores, there are probably some really healthy, delicious options already located in your fridge! The following fruits are also really healthy for dogs as well:

  • Apples: Apples are a great source of vitamin C, fiber, calcium, and phosphorus. Apples are also quite low in calories compared to other treats and many dogs are fond of the taste. The next time you’re looking for a healthy and delicious treat for your pup, reach for those apples!

  • Mango: Ripe mangoes are sweet and soft, and they are packed with fiber, vitamin A, B6, C, and E. Be sure to cut the mango up in smaller pieces so it’s not a choking hazard for your pup.

  • Watermelon: Watermelon is low in calories, sodium, fat, and cholesterol; and is an excellent treat for dogs. They are also made up of mostly water and can help your pup stay hydrated.

Strawberries: Strawberries are packed with antioxidants, making them very healthy for your pet. Antioxidants are substances that may protect your cells against free radicals, which may play a role in heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. Strawberries also contain an enzyme that can help whiten your pup’s teeth!
